MOUNT AND BLADE VIKING CONQUEST COMPANIONS MOD

VC Balance Mod helps the pagan player a bit by making Caio a pagan (given his conflict with Beda about christianity) and increasing the grievance divisor to make companions a little less petty. From the creators of the popular “Brytenwalda” mod, “Viking Conquest” is a brand new DLC for Mount & Blade Warband! This single and multi player DLC brings Mount & Blade to historical Dark Age Britain, complemented by authentic scenes and cultures. You are right the pagan companions in VC all tend to have conflicts. If you use a companion as minister, make sure he likes you-less tax ineffeciency in VC when your minister has a high relations score with you (presumably they are a little less corrupt). Due to a coding oversight, martial pagan lords do get a negative modifier to opinion of the player at low honor in vanilla VC, but using VC Balance Mod fixes that and makes them consistent with the pagan upstanding lords in not caring. So you'll have to weigh that against the lost player party size, and the other options you have when founding a kingdom.īut bear in mind that for pagan lords, personality matters a little less-upstanding pagan lords don't change their relationship with player based on honor, and all honor effects on relationship with even christian lords in VC are capped anyway. But on the other hand, as far as vassals go, good personality lords are rarer in VC (no goodnatured, and heavy weighting towards debauched), so a good personality companion lord is a bit more valuable. With companions in VC adding leadership to player party size, for pure utility you'd probably want to prioritize lots of decently high charisma companions and increase everyone's leadership, as the player army is usually a critical part of kingdom strength. So high persuasion and, say, always telling whoever brings the complaint that you support them, might let you add a couple companions with the same happiness despite the additional conflicts. The effect of companion conflicts is less severe if you alternate favoring one and then the other (ie, don't stay out of the conflicts, instead pick a side, but not always the same side). A grievance divisor is formed, starts at 100, subtracts total number of companions, adds persuasion, and the higher the divisor the less grievances matter. High player character pursuasion and alternating sides lessens the effects of companion conflicts (in both VC and Warband in general). But I do plan on not playing viking raider this time and conquering england for myself so I think it fits alright. Solveig as companion is usually nice for the high leadership but in that combo Having bodo+another compared to sizing the party down for solveig makes up for her added leadership.Īs far as RP this isn't the most ideal since I'm a norse pagan and I don't have egil, helgi, or solveig. With Agathinos building towards taking over medical utility from brunhild, when that is accomplished and I can name steward, make brunhild steward and replace her party slot with reginhard. If lords as vassals is unnecessary or outright bad, I'd probably go, Agathinos, Brunhild, Caio, Ceawlin instead of donnchadh (think he's better party companion overall), bodo, Morgant, Clovis. I like party comps Where everyone gets along so What I've worked out is if I plan on making noble characters lords.Īgathinos, Brunhild, And Caio as permanent Utility.ĭonnchadh, Clovis, and Morgant As noble companions/eventual vassals, who when Made Vassals Unlock the recruitment of Ceawlin (Strongest starting stats great companion warrior), Solveig (good soldier+ highest starting leadership contributes to party)Īnd helgi who I don't find that special but makes up for the 3rd slot, as permanent companion replacements, though with this combo you're still one short due to bodo as steward, but bodo dislikes both solveig and helgi. But I'm unsure of how necessary/beneficial/detrimental turning a companion into a vassal lord is, is it better to just build companions for your party, or make a few lords? Feel like trying a Norse paga, one hander/two hander, shield, and bow Since I've never really tried bow in VC, I know it's generally worse, but at high levels with good equipment still quite good/I'm sick of throwing weapons.īut as far as party comp early/to late goes, I'm wondering how people treat their party as far as making companions into vassals as this will determine which characters I pick up along the way. Whats the general idea of Companions as vassals? I'm planning a new campaign.
